چکیده

Recently, Banerjee et al. [Phys. Rev. E 102, 013107 (2020)] investigated overstable rotating convection in the presence of an external horizontal magnetic field and reported a rich bifurcation structure near onset. However, onset vertical has not been explored yet. We address issue here by performing three dimensional direct numerical simulations low-dimensional modeling system using Rayleigh–Bénard model. The control parameters, namely, Taylor number (Ta), Chandrasekhar (Q), Prandtl (Pr) are varied ranges 750 ? Ta 10 6 , 0 < Q 3, Pr 0.5. Our investigation reveals two qualitatively different scenarios including bistability (coexistence subcritical supercritical convections). Analysis model shows that Hopf is responsible for pitchfork It also observed appearance at strong dependence on all parameters: Ta, Q, Pr. scenario found to disappear as increased fixed Q. most striking findings increment opposes convection, whereas favors it. This sharp contrast with earlier results magnetoconvection.

Thermal Convection in a (Kuvshiniski-type) Viscoelastic Rotating Fluid in the Presence of Magnetic Field through Porous Medium (TECHNICAL NOTE)

The effect of magnetic field on an incompressible (Kuvshiniski-Type) viscoelastic rotating fluid heated from below in porous medium is considered. For the case of stationary convection, magnetic field and medium permeability have both stabilizing and destabilizing effect on the thermal convection under some conditions whereas rotation has a stabilizing effect on the thermal convection. In the...

Convection in Superposed Fluid and Porous Layers in the Presence of a Vertical Magnetic Field

A linear stability analysis is applied to a system consisting of a horizontal fluid layer overlying a layer of porous medium saturated with the same fluid, with uniform heating from below in the presence of a vertical magnetic field. The flow in porous medium is assumed to be governed by Darcy’s law. The Beavers-Joseph condition is applied at the interface between the two layers. Numerical solu...

Localised convection cells in the presence of a vertical magnetic field

Thermal convection in a horizontal fluid layer heated uniformly from below usually produces an array of convection cells of roughly equal amplitudes. In the presence of a vertical magnetic field, convection may instead occur in vigorous isolated cells separated by regions of strong magnetic field. An approximate model for two-dimensional solutions of this kind is constructed, using the limits o...

The Effects of an Imposed Magnetic Field on Natural Convection in a Tilted Cavity with Partially Active Vertical Walls:Numerical Approach

The effect of imposed magnetic field on natural convection in a tilted cavity with partially active walls was investigated numerically. The active part of the right side wall was at a higher temperature than the active part of the left side wall and were moving on vertical walls relative to each other. The top, the bottom and the remaining parts of the side walls were insulated. The magnetic fi...

Magnetohydrodynamic free convection between vertical parallel porous plates in the presence of induced magnetic field

In this paper, the steady two-dimensional hydromagnetic free convective flow of an incompressible viscous and electrically conducting fluid between two parallel vertical porous plates has been considered. The effect of induced magnetic field arising due to the motion of an electrically conducting fluid is taken into account. The governing equations of the motion are a set of simultaneous ordina...
